My perfectionism compels me only to show my audience a finished product. Truthfully, I either feel insecure writing about the mundane or stressed that I’m publishing my writing through my “little newsletter” and not with an established publication.
Every essay has to outdo what came before. And sometimes I don’t feel like putting that pressure on myself.
I’ve been too focused on suppressing my everlasting need to create imperfectly for the sake of stability and prestige. If I don’t have much time to create, it must be worth it when I do. It must draw me closer to what I want…whatever the fuck that is. I quickly abandon any ambitious project because of my deep-seated fears of being seen and trusting myself. When I get close to succeeding and or being celebrated, I shrink back and reject myself before anyone else can.
As much as I love meticulously researching to write compelling essays for Work in Progress, I also want to write more freely— connecting with my community more authentically. I want to imperfectly write about silly anecdotes, muse about bad reality TV, share life updates, and more!

I’m excited to begin this journey with you all!
